SevOne Announces Performance Log Appliance

SevOne, the provider of a highly scalable performance monitoring platform, announced it has leveraged the technology from its recent acquisition of RapidEngines to deliver the first solution that integrates real-time log analytics with an enterprise-class performance monitoring platform (view press release).

This is welcome news, as we’ve been waiting to see log analytics take center stage within a performance and availability monitoring solution. What sets SevOne’s solution apart from others in the market?

First, the ability to pivot from performance alerts and graphs into related log files with a single click. This capability eliminates the need to manually search and correlate log data to performance metrics. A huge time saver. It is worth noting that SevOne says users can still manually search logs if they need to, and the search capability is more akin to drag-and-drop than the “complex and proprietary query languages we’ve come to expect.”

Second, the real-time analytics performed at the point of ingestion. Rather than provide IT ops teams with another tool to search log data, SevOne seems to have delivered a solution that baselines log data and automatically alerts when an abnormal condition appears, like a spike in the number of failed user logins for a particular application. Or the occurrence of a unique log that’s never been seen before. A much more proactive approach to log analytics.

We’ll continue to follow this announcement and let you know as we learn more. SevOne provides information about its Performance Log Analytics solution at www.sevone.com/performancelogs
